2019 is the year we are teaching our children and youth to have a heart for service. We began in small spurts in 2018, but this year our goal is to have our children and youth experience a wide variety of ways to serve others every month. In January they collected food for the “Souper Bowl of Caring” that went to the local food bank. Then they provided pizza and played games with the women at the House of Hope. In February they made hand-shaped soaps that were delivered to the women at the shelter, and now in March they are cleaning up Alpine’s flower beds & planting seeds for butterflies & hummingbirds. If we start teaching youngsters how to look beyond “ME,” we can’t help but create a better world. Join us at Alpine as we take on a project each month this year to inspire service, kindness, & a love for others.—Kathy Poynor, Director of Children & Youth
